Local Clubs Combine Efforts to Measure Blood Pressure

The Rotary Club of Heston & Isleworth (D1130) together with The Rotary Club of Hounslow (D11400

Updated 5th April 2004

On Saturday April 3rd, 2004, the combined resources of the Rotary Club of the Rotary Club of Heston & Isleworth in District 1130  and the Rotary Club of Hounslow in District 1140 established a public Blood Pressure testing service in the Treaty Centre in Hounslow High Street.

240 members of the local public (cf. 212 in 2003) were tested throughout the day by a team of medical staff headed by Dr Marjorie Wheldon-Smith (the wife of H&I Fellow Ray Smith). Of the 240 people checked, around 5% showed signs on high blood pressure and were recommended to see their own GP in the near future.

Another bi-product of the day is that we have high hopes of welcoming a potential new Rotarian to the Heston & Isleworth Club.
