Coping With Life

An Award Winning series of Multimedia CD-ROM disks for Home & Schools

Many young people suffer from bullying, family breakdown, bereavement, the effects of crime and so on, and can find it difficult to cope. Problems like these are difficult to recognise and often go undetected. The victim may not know how to get help or is frightened to do so. The ‘Rotary, Coping with Life’ series offers real help in a private and non-threatening way.

 Every programme in the series:

 ·        Has individual sections for children, teachers and families.

 ·        Is the most comprehensive resource available.

 ·        Is available in two versions, one for Primary and one for Secondary schools.

 ·        Has all the text, on both versions, available in audio form to help children who have
reading difficulties or who are visually impaired.

 ·        Has been co-ordinated by leading experts and reviewed by teachers and education
          authority representatives.

 ·        Uses video, sound, animation and text, collectively known as multimedia.

 ·        Is supplied on a CD-ROM and can be accessed using a computer.

1. Coping with Bullying:

·Is the most comprehensive anti-bullying resource available.

·Offers ideas on prevention, but advice is given to deal with bullying incidents and the problems of both the victim and the bully.

·Has the flexibility to be used by individuals, small and large groups and with or without a teacher.

·Is a valuable resource for use in any home with children.

·Has received the ISCPP ‘Best Community Project in the World’ Award and an Information Society Creativity Award.

·Is the only resource of its kind recommended by the DfEE.

2. Coping with Family Change:

·Addresses family breakdown, as a result of separation and divorce, which is a major social issue of today.

·Has been written by experts from leading world organisations that deal with these problems on a daily basis.

·Emphasises the importance of talking and demonstrates that the family change is not the fault of the child.

·Emphasises that parents have feelings too and that the pain will get better.

·Delivers messages in a variety of powerful ways, mostly by children, who wish to pass on their own experience and advice to others.

·Is approved by the DfEE and the Home Office.

3.Coping with Citizenship:

·Has information delivered to children through a series of interactive activities and stories.

·Has been written by members of the DfEE Working Group on Citizenship and so the content matches the needs of schools.

·Covers ‘Rights and Responsibilities’, the main message being if citizens have rights, then they also have responsibilities.

·Covers probably the most difficult ‘job’ in life, that of parenting. The programme has a section that targets families with some thought-provoking content.

·Offers direct access to relevant websites.
