Updated 7th April 2004

On Monday April 5th 2004, Past President and Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club of Stiftland (D1880) in Germany, Klaus Kupke accompanied by his wife, Dorly and their daughter Julia arrived in the UK.

After a day of sightseeing in London on Tuesday the family met all the members of or club prior to our regular Tuesday evening meeting.

Julia will be spending the week as guests of President Richard Manning and his wife Carol where she will be meeting up with young local horse riding enthusiasts.

The highlight of our evening together was Klaus's incredible PowerPoint presentation presentation on the work that the Stiftland Club, under his leadership, has done to provide eye surgeons and state-of-the-art ophthalmic surgery equipment to a remote town in the highlands of Ethopia.

Klaus plans to return to Ethiopia in May of this year to progress the next phase of the project to built a custom designed permanent ophthalmic surgery and hospital to replace the current shared facility.

As is customary, club banners were exchanged.
