Rotary International  conceived and launched a  Polio Eradication Campaign in 1978 with a pilot programme in the Philippines. Following this successful trial, the Rotary World-Wide project was planned and launched to Rotarians in 1986-87.
By the start of the year 2002, polio outbreaks around the world had reduced from 350,000 outbreaks per year to just 600 per year. We are now on the final 'push' to totally eradicate the disease from the world by February 23rd, 2005, the Centenary of the foundation of the Rotary International.

The Rotary Club of Heston & Isleworth would like to say a 'BIG THANK YOU' to all members of our community who donated to the Polio Eradication cause on Saturday at Osterley Tube Station and at Tesco's Osterley: Your generosity in giving £681 will Make a Difference.
