Radio West Middlesex first started
broadcasting to hospital patients in 1967 with a record request programme
aptly named ' Needle Talk'; a production that is still broadcast today on
Saturday mornings. The station has won numerous accolades and in 2002, was presented with a 'Special Achievement' award by the West Middlesex Trust. Every penny that is spent on
equipment, records and other necessities is raised by the station
volunteers and through donations from local businesses and societies. The
station motto is right: One corner of the record library ! |

Since the move into the recently opened new section of the Hospital, Radio West Middlesex, using 'state of the art' equipment, now broadcasts 24 hours a day with the aid of pre-programmed recording held on two computers. The station's programme together with TV, BBC Radio stations, phone and Internet links are carried by optical fibre links to all patients in the new section of the hospital.
